A 32-year-old techie from Gurugram was duped of Rs 42 lakh by fraudsters who promised him to earn money by liking YouTube videos. The victim, who works as a software engineer in a multinational company, received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number on April 12. The message said that the victim could earn Rs 50 for every YouTube video he liked. The victim was initially skeptical, but the scammers assured him that it was a legitimate offer.
The victim started liking YouTube videos and was initially paid Rs 50 for each video. However, after a few days, the scammers started asking the victim to deposit money in different bank accounts. The victim was told that the money was needed to pay for the services of the YouTube video likers. The victim deposited a total of Rs 42 lakh in different bank accounts.
After a few days, the scammers stopped responding to the victim’s messages. The victim realized that he had been duped and filed a complaint with the police. The police are investigating the matter.
