HAL & Safran sign MoU for commercial engines. HAL to produce lean engine parts for Safran in Bengaluru.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop industrial cooperation in forging parts’ manufacturing for commercial engines. Under the terms of the MoU, HAL will produce LEAP engine parts for Safran Aircraft Engines in its facilities in Bangalore, supporting the Government of India’s “Make in India” policy as well as the LEAP program unprecedented ramp-up.

The MoU was signed on October 26, 2023, at the Aero India 2023 air show in Bangalore. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both companies, as well as representatives from the Indian government.

The MoU is a significant development for both HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines. It will allow HAL to access Safran’s state-of-the-art aerospace manufacturing technology and expertise. It will also help Safran to increase its production capacity for the LEAP engine, which is in high demand from airlines around the world.

The MoU is also a testament to the growing cooperation between the Indian and French aerospace industries. The two countries have been working together on a number of aerospace projects in recent years, including the development of the Rafale fighter jet and the IMRH helicopter engine.

The MoU is expected to create new jobs and opportunities in the Indian aerospace sector. It will also help to boost India’s self-reliance in the aerospace industry.
